Under Sail in the CRISR race

The CRISR is an international schooner race that annually switches from British Columbia to Washington State. 2016’s race will take place in British Columbia’s beautiful Gulf Islands. The Zodiac will embark from Bellingham and sail to the picturesque city of Victoria. While in Victoria, the Zodiac will rendezvous with other schooners and embark into the Gulf Islands to begin racing. Passengers will spend time learning their sailing station under the instruction of the crew. By the beginning of the race, sailing maneuvers will be executed by everyone on board with a high level of precision. The passengers on this trip become members of the crew and help to represent the ship as we compete with other vessels and the elements with win prestige for the Zodiac.

After each adventure filled day of sailing, the Zodiac will anchor in secluded inlets and the passengers and crew can relax and explore using the ship’s kayaks and sailing dinghy. Hearty meals and snacks served from the ship’s galley along with libations from the bar will refuel you as the sun sets over the San Juan and Gulf Islands. As the largest vessel in the race, the Zodiac will host an on deck BBQ for the other participating vessels and former competitors can mingle together as friends. As the ship heads back to port on the sixth day of the trip, you can take pride in your progress towards becoming a true mariner.

Cruise Highlights include:

  • 6-days sailing and exploring the San Juan and Gulf Islands
  • Sail training on a classic tall ship
  • Time ashore to take in the old world charm of Victoria
  • Participation in a prestigious international windjammer race
  • Hearty and delicious meals and snacks served from the ship’s galley
  • A community BBQ on deck for race participants
  • Amazing wildlife sightings including: bald eagles, porpoises, seals and whales

The Pacific Windjammer Fleet in the Captain Raynaud International Schooner Race, Canadian Gulf Islands

Part of the adventure of sailing is that wind and tide may alter your course. For this reason the Zodiac may deviate from it's intended route at the captain's discretion. Bearing this in mind, the captain and crew will always endeavor to give passengers the most incredible experience possible.
